New Radio Interfaces for Short Range Communications

چکیده
Fig. 6: The values for throughput and delay presented here are normalized to 100% of a single superframe. Based on its demand a player can react on the opponents behavior and adapt its scheduling of transmission opportunities to maximize its payoff .. Fig. 8: Only neighbouring stations are in reception range. Since station 1 and station 4 have only one neighbour, it is more likely for them to grab the channel than for bottleneck stations 2 1 Motivation Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) are nowadays increasingly perceived as a natural complement to the cellular third generation (3G) mobile communication system. This can be interpreted as the fact that it will be unavoidable to witness in the near future a superposition of radio-access networks of various sizes and topologies: macro-cellular systems (3G), micro-cellular systems (WLAN), and pico-cellular systems such as Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) or even Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN). This somehow reflects and mimics the overlap of the Body Area / Personal Area / Local Area / Wide Area radio spheres of human interactions. Using this approach and similarities on how users communicate, it is now clear that no radio interface for next generation mobile communication system can be considered without capturing inherently the WBAN / WPAN / WLAN worlds. Moreover, for sake of ease of deployment and economy of scale, the next technical challenge is now to design a comprehensive fourth generation (4G) system, that would be in a position to fulfil the user requirements for all the possible environments he will be facing, each of them being characterized by performance / mobility / coverage / QoS / topology constraints as for instance wide area with vehicular speed, or hot spots, home and enterprise environments with at most pedestrian speed. It is clear that this can not be realized without a high degree of flexibility and adaptivity, so that a variety of wireless access modes can be integrated into a common structure or even a common system concept, that encompasses next generation cellular mobile systems, broadband wireless LAN, and inexpensive wireless PAN / BAN. These wireless access modes will complement each other with respect to services and radio environments, allow seamless interworking, and provide access to an IP-based backbone network enhanced with QoS and mobility management support. In that respect, it is foreseen that WLAN / WPAN / WBAN will be an essential part of the overall …

متن کاملEstimating the Number of Wideband Radio Sources
In this paper, a new approach for estimating the number of wideband sources is proposed which is based on RSS or ISM algorithms. Numerical results show that the MDL-based and EIT-based proposed algorithm havea much better detection performance than that in EGM and AIC cases for small differences between the incident angles of sources. In addition, for similar conditions, RSS algorithm offers hi...

Heterogeneous wireless networks are capable of providing customers with better services while service providers can offer more applications to more customers with lower costs. To provide services, some applications rely on existing servers in the network. In a vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) some mobile nodes may function as servers. Due to high mobility of nodes and short lifetime of links, s...
